The Merlin Show: Productivity At 30 Frames Per Second

Author of 43Folders, and co-host of MacBreak Weekly, Merlin Mann is finally starting up his own video podcast, on a topic we cant get enough of - productivity.
The show which is titled “The Merlin Show” is set to be launched on Monday, February 26th, at thirty theoretically productive frames per second.
This looks like it could be fun, I don’t know if I can get too much more productive with my time, but this show looks really interesting due to the fact it’s hosted by productivity whiz of the blogosphere, Merlin Mann.
Look out for it Monday morning, I’ve already subscribed in iTunes, awaiting the first episode.
What blogs and podcasts related to productivity or time management do you read/listen to?

I have a feeling this is going to be awesome, he’s great on MacBreak Weekly and was great on TWiT the other week. I’m looking forward to seeing the first episode tomorrow. I believe they are interview Johnathon Culton the guy who did The Code Monkey song :D

Haha, I feel like watching a podcast about productivity is a bit hypocritical. You’d have to be getting a lot more productive from the podcast to make up for the time you lose watching it!

alej744I’m not a big fan of audio [net/pod]casts but I’m going to check this out.
P.S., his name is Merlin. hehe

Steffan Williams → www.steffanwilliams.co.uk/blog
I don’t watch any related to productivity. My podcast section on iTunes is full of PixelPerfect, Diggnation and a couple of other Revision3 video podcasts.
I’m not a fan of audio podcasts, since it just seems a bit of a waste of time unless I’m in the gym with nothing else to listen to (even then, I’d rather music).
Anyway, I may have a look at this one and if the first show is any good, who knows, I may subscribe.

I don’t really read any blogs or listen to podcasts related to productivity, except for your site, I guess. But Merlin is just so entertaining on MacBreak Weekly and some of the other TWiT shows, that I just have to subscribe to the Merlin Show.
Heads up, Michael, Diggnation has nothing to do with productivity!

Michael Yurechko → michaelyurechko.com
Heads up, Smaran, there’s an edit button.
…and yes, diggnation has to do with productivity, it shows if you drink beer and joke around with a friend, you get less done. It’s like a How-Not-To on productivity.

Heh, whatever. I’m possibly one of the most active Digg users in the whole universe and I think Diggnation is quite lame. It’s for 13 year-olds. Wait, how old are you, again? :-P

Hey, you know what “to pull a wolsey” means? I invented the expression.

Michael and Smaran, I just woke up to the comments on this entry (I delayed posted it), and found this in your comments “COMMENT CENSORED - Glenn Wolsey”.
Why did you add that into the end of your comment?

Smaran → smarandayal.com
You didn’t do that???? OMG H4X0R ALERT!

Glenn Wolsey → www.glennwolsey.com
Haha, good joke Smaran, I’ve talked to Michael ;-)
Move on here, just two old friends playing a joke on me..which in turn is very un-productive ;-)

i stopped listening to twit a long time ago. and i very rarely watch macbreak. the only podcasts i watch now are diggnation, tikibar tv and vod cars. i dunno they stop getting interesting after a while. especially when you have as little time as what i do.

We are so unproductive, Michael.
FYI:
Pull a wolsey
verb or something
1 To log in to an instant messaging service for fewer than 10 seconds and abruptly log out, ignoring a barrage of messages from worshippers of your Internet avatar : Haha, I just pulled a wolsey on you!
Note: In Betelgeuse it is considered a blessing from the Great God, His Majesty the All-seeing Eye if you are fortunate enough to have Glenn Wolsey himself pull a wolsey on you.

Any reason you don’t like Diggnation, Smaran?
I’m not exactly 13 (in fact, it’s my 20th birthday on Tuesday.. woo) but I absolutely love it. On my iMac, it’s the thing that takes up the most hard-drive space. I don’t have many applications on there yet and my iPhoto library hasn’t been imported from my laptop but Diggnation takes up many, many gigabytes. :p
On a productivity note: I lose way too much time to digg.com and Diggnation.

I saw that come up in my iCal Steffan, the big 20. By the way, get that iPhoto library imported, it’d be awesome to edit on that” iMac, so get started! :-)

Steffan, I think it’s boorish. Two cable TV “stars” from yesteryear (one of whom founded Digg) get together, then get intoxicated and talk nonsensically about a website. It’s an amateur podcast, that’s it. The hosts don’t do anything for me. They may be popular in the USA, being former TV personalities, but I just go “meh”. Digg’s a great site, but I think the top user list link was much more deserving of a spot on Digg.com than Diggnation. The removal of it just proved where the power really lies on Digg (hint: it’s not with the users).
You know what’s more interesting than Diggnation? Jet Set Show, and I’m not being sarcastic. It’s supposed to be a children’s podcast, but I think it’s a lot more interesting, intellectually stimulating and fun than two middle-aged men sitting on a couch.
20, huh? Looks like I’m not the oldest chap on here. I turned 18 in August. Happy bearthday in advance!
Bearthday
noun
1 The day on which the human person in question was born unto this earth. Derived from the Latin words bearuntoworldous and thisismyearthicus : Be happy on your bearthday!
Note: It’s 2 AM where I am, so my writing might resemble the manner in which the Diggnation hosts express themselves.

productive… podcasts??? what is this you speak of? Lifehacker and this blog are the only ones I read (about productivity) 43 folders doesn’t update often enough.

How come all these people are here saying they aren’t a fan of audio podcasts because they’re a ‘waste of time’ — I think the opposite! I love to listen to audio podcasts in bed before I go to sleeo (I think it’s relaxing) or listen to them at my computer while I chat on IRC to browse the internet. imo, video podcasts are the waste of time.
#22
Smaran → smarandayal.com
Who said audio podcasts are a waste of time? I only said the video podcast Diggnation was not worth one’s time.
#23
Steffan Williams → www.steffanwilliams.co.uk/blog
That’s fair enough then, Smaran, I guess!
I’d never heard of either of them before Diggnation. I actually started watching it based on clips my room-mate showed me - before I even discovered digg.com. I find Alex very funny but I can’t actually understand why so many people like Kevin. Yeah, he seems like a nice guy… founded digg.com, good for him.. but he’s just another geek that doesn’t seem to have as much personality as Mr. Albrecht.
But I find Diggnation funny. I have no idea why but they just make me laugh! I’ve not looked at that Jet Set thing yet but it sounds like one of the best games on the Dreamcast: Jet Set Radio. I played the demo version of that game way too much.
(note: Shenmue was the best game on the Dreamcast)
Right.. off I go to read about the Jet Set Show. Oh, and thank you for the “bearthday” wishes. :P

Smaran → smarandayal.com
You’re right about Albrecht having personality. I found him funny at times, too.
I’ve only played on a Dreamcast once, at this gaming parlour in my city that shut down - Surf’s Up. I played tennis, I think.
#25
Glenn Wolsey → www.glennwolsey.com
Albrecht is a funny guy, he seems to be the one who tells all the good jokes, and the one who mucks around the most on the show. Rose is a little more serious - but still just as funny when he’s drunk ;-)
