Wow, so you love photography too. Me too but never that good. [btw, why is that your site never remembers my credentials if I want to comment again]

I find the average shots kept daily stats amazing, you must be taking some great photos Glenn.

I like taking photos, but I always suck. Maybe it’s just because I use the “auto” setting on my two standard camera. Perhaps I’ll need to buy a pro one with a giant lens or something… hmm…
@Brajeshwar: Same thing with me with the credentials — but I guess it’s not too much to ask to fill in three fields each time you want to comment.

Glenn, I moved to Aperture today! Imported my entire photo library over.

Hey, neat idea. I like. Interesting, as I am one of your fellow stat junkies. ;)

zzap: The camera does not make the photographs. You could have the best camera in the world, but if you don’t know how to use it, the photos will still be crappy.

Glenn, just wondering something. Do you make it a goal to shoot pictures everyday? If you do, that’s awesome. I can’t wait to get my DSLR!

Shreedhan → appleication.com
How are you keeping track of these? Is it built-into an app?

Glenn Wolsey → www.glennwolsey.com
Shreedhan, I have smart albums set up in Aperture. They work really well for keeping tab on my shooting stats and preferences.
Joe, yes. My goal is to take ten pictures a day. Once I get out I just cant stop at ten and it turns to fifty.

Thats a lot for one month. Do you just go on walks with your camera to take pictures?
#12
Glenn Wolsey → www.glennwolsey.com
I do, I go on walks where my only aim is to take images. Sometimes I go out with a plan on shots I want, sometimes I just shoot without a plan. Thats that way I take most of my best shots, without a plan.

@Glenn: How long are the walks? Also, where do you go?
#14
Joe Jacobs → macfreak.wordpress.com
Wow, Glenn! That sounds like so much fun. I do that when I have assignments in my photography calss, but I really prefer digital over the dark room (even though the I love the dark room). I just hate have a roll of film. Digital just opens so many doors!

@Dustin: Yeah, you’re right; but you still need to tweak with the camera settings. I’ll need to learn how to use my camera this year, though.
#16
Tom@zzap: I have to do the same. I took pictures this Holiday Season with both my point and shoot Canon and my Canon Digital Rebel XT and some with the point and shoot actually came out better. I have to learn more about how to use my SLR this year for sure!

Glenn, remember how I told you that I’d switched to Aperture? Well, I switched back. :-(
I couldn’t take it. Aperture was too slow and it didn’t feel like an iLife app. Everything felt different, all the buttons were in odd places.
When I initially tried Aperture on my MacBook Pro a while back, it worked fine, but now with all my new photographs, it was lagging like hell!
Another thing, Aperture doesn’t handle videos! And I’ve got quite a few videos from my digital camera in iPhoto.
Anyway, I think I’ll stick to the n00b app for now.

@ Smaran: Was Aperture laggy on your MBP cause you had a lot open? That could slow it down, but I can’t imagine it laggy on a MBP.

No, Tucker, only Aperture and a few Finder windows were open. At one point I was decompressing an archive, but even when that was over, Aperture ran slowly.
I have a 2.16ghz MacBook Pro Core Duo with 1 GB of RAM and a 100 GB hard disk. The only background processes running were iCalAlarmScheduler and iTunesHelper. Keep in mind, I have quite a lot of photographs. I had also just imported them from iPhoto.
