Review: Logitech diNovo Edge Keyboard
As much as I love my Apple Wireless Keyboard, the moment I unpacked the Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard I had a new found love with one of the best designed products I’ve ever held in my hands. The Logitech diNovo Edge is the keyboard from the future, its features are polished so well, it’ll have you wondering how they packed so many functions into such a slimly finished keyboard.
Slick & Sleek Design

The first thing you’ll notice about the diNovo Edge is it’s slick glossy black design. While browsing pictures of the keyboard before it’s arrival I was curious how it would look matched against my “all-white” Mac environment - upon arrival I was greeted with a wonderful looking product which contrasted well with my iMac & MacBook.
The keyboard is super thin, even with the “feet” raised on the back it’s lower than the stock Apple keyboard. I still find it hard to believe how anyone could manufacture a keyboard so slim, but Logitech has done just that. You have to see it to believe it.
Unbeatable Battery Life

I’ve been used to swapping out batteries in my Apple Wireless Keyboard on a frequent basis which is quite fustrating at times, with the diNovo Edge the frustration has stopped due to the units included (matching) charging base. The base gets plugged into the wall via its AC adaptor, and sits poised on your desk ready for quick charging.
The diNovo Edge provides a full day of use from 5 minutes of charging in it’s charging base, and one month of normal use from 2 hours sitting in it’s charging base.
Volume Controller & Trackpad

One of the cool features on the diNovo Edge is it’s in-built volume controller. To change the volume on your Mac simply slide your thumb upwards, to turn it down, slide your thumb downwards. You are notified of the change by a flashing light following your finger up or down the keyboard.
This is really useful as you can use the trackpad if your mouse is currently charging, or if you want something a little different. You can also scroll web-pages with the trackpad by moving your finger around it’s edge.
Things I Like/Dislike About The diNovo Edge
I like it’s Slick black design, however the glossy black finish attracts fingerprints. It’s super thin and flat, but the orange design on back of the unit looks out of place for such a “luxury” item.
I like the in-built trackpad and volume controller and the audible notification for caps lock. It has beautiful LED lights which illuminate, however many of the functions don’t work for Mac users. I like the included charging base, it means I don’t need to worry about changing batteries constantly.
Overall this is one solid keyboard. It’s great to type on however I’ve missed having a full numeric pad on the keyboard, but the rest of the features such as it’s charging base, in-built trackpad, and super thin body have made up for that. It’s part of Logitech’s advanced product range, and I can see why. I cant wait to test out Logitechs other Advanced Peripherals in the near future.

I can’t believe you spent $200 USD on a keyboard made for Windows. Nice write up, though. :)

I find it amusing and a little odd that they would make something like this and gear it towards Windows users. When I hear the words “sleek” and “shiny” associated with peripherals, I instantly think Mac. I don’t think I would ever get a shiny black keyboard, though. As you mentioned - fingerprint city. I guess that’s why Apple has stuck with white primarily for so long.
The charging time is unreal, though! 5 minutes for a day? Ho-ly!

Wow, It’s very ugly and very expensive. But if it’s free for you, what the heck ;). Have fun, but it’s not as nice as the apple keyboard.

Matt, I never thought of having a black keyboard but I really cant turn down using such an amazing product to switch back at this stage..
Alex, to each and his own. It might not be best suited for a “white” Apple setup, but it would go amazingly well with a black MacBook or Dell display.

LatrentYou should start “making nice” with Art Lebedev about his Optimus keyboard (http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/).

That is very slick! I agree with Matt though not a real fit for Windows but a match for Apple for sure.

Dennis and wphj, you’ve got it spot on, it’s a super slick keyboard - I’d love to see it paired up with a black iMac (if one sees the light of day) or black MacBook.

Sadly, the diNovo Edge is going back to Logitech on Monday as it was just sent out for review purposes. I’d like to say thanks to Logitech for the review opportunity.
