My iPhoto 08 Review Is Online

After having the new iLife 08 suite for a few weeks now (I purchased it the day after it came out), I’ve finally got around to publishing around 700 words of my thoughts on Macguide.

iPhoto 08 is another huge leap in features and performance over the previous version, keeping up a trend in innovation and improvement Apple has set over the past 5 years.

This year Apple have really pumped up the volume and worked hard at making iPhoto a much more intuitive application for both managing, and editing digital images.

Check out the review on Macguide. On another note, I’m not sure if I should be excited or scared for tomorrows Apple Special Event, after selling my 60GB iPod last week and now having cash to play with, I really don’t want a new iPod as I don’t actually use them as much as I should/could, but I think I could be tempted..only time will tell.

  1. I thought you were saving for a 40D?

I already had (and have) the money sitting here for it, I was actually trying to make myself wait a while..we’ll see.

Any tips on how to get into your line of work?

  4. Great review. I love the addition of events. I use to create an album for every set of photos and now I can manage that in iPhoto. I’m still trying to decide on a winner between iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom and Adobe Bridge for managing my photos and graphic design projects.

  5. Well, that comment failed. Nevermind me.

How do you use iPhoto in conjunction with Aperture? It doesn’t appear that either updates the other if you add new photos in one or the other. So how do you keep them in sync, or better yet, is it better to stick with just one? I like iPhotos simple, and easy to use interface for organzing. But it doesn’t cut it for editing RAW.

  8. Steve Jobs should be giving you a cut of what he earns from me, You have sold mac to me, i cant wait to get my mac book for Christmas :P

I’m yanking iPhoto 08 off my machine. I’ve spent a lot of time and effort organizing my photos (>10K) and the automatic clumping into nonsensical Events is just in my way. I’m not a .Mac user so I don’t get the benefits of this new “feature” and I don’t want to spend the time correcting what 08 has done to my Library. Luckily I stored a backup before installing the “upgrade” so there is a chance I can go back to where I was.
