MacApper Launches

macapper1.png

I’ve been wanting to start a blog based around Macintosh applications for a long time, as no other blog has covered this niche too well in the past. With MacApper, myself along with my crew of contributing authors aim to fill that niche, and offer top quality Mac software reviews, previews, interviews, tips and giveaways to the Mac community.

To mark the launch of MacApper we have published our first interview with Dustin MacDonald, developer of the popular password management application Wallet. We are giving three readers the chance to win a copy of Wallet on the blog - all you have to do is leave a comment on the interview to be in the draw.

Finally, a niche site dedicated to Mac Applications. Get ready to fill your applications folder, as we have many app reviews, interviews, and contests up our sleeve.

  1. Looks Good!

  2. I’m checking it out now, pretty cool stuff. I actually saw the shot on your Flickr page before I read this!

  3. Not actually sure if this could be described as a ‘niche’ area as the Mac seems to drowning in blogs but this one does look very promising.

Time to boot an exisitng feed off and add this one in it’s place… good luck folks..

  4. I’m with Phil on the first bit, I wouldn’t exactly call this a ‘niche’ area. My blog is (and will be more when I have time) basically about reviews and stuff to do with the Mac.

Granted, mine isn’t as good - but it’s a way for me to learn certain things and interact with others.

Anyway.. good luck with all that - I’m sure it’ll take off.

Just don’t go down the same road as MacHeist, MacAppADay or MyDreamApp - do something worthwhile and only give positive reviews and giveaways when you yourself actually like them. Everything “new” in the Mac community right now seems slanted towards money over anything else and I don’t like it.

    Good luck.

(PS: When I get back from Uni, I’ll throw together a couple of videos for you. Vista should be available by tomorrow - so hopefully you’ll be getting that one soon too.)

  5. @Phil

That’s exactly what I said to Michael when he told me about it.

Looks just like every other apple fan site. Sigh. Given that application reviews are 40% of your posts, what will you be blogging about now?

  7. Sounds like Appleications’ lil brother

  8. P.S. Can you make it so you can edit comments Glenn? ‘Cause I often see mistakes after I’ve posted which I would like to correct.

  9. Cool, already in my feed reader. Though the Mac app niche is not really a small one, but it’s cool to have teens taking action. If only I was proactive (not to mention if i had a mac or some cash)….

Hope you keep blogging here, Glenn!

  10. Awesome! I’ll add to my list o’ blogs tor read. Just keep blogging here!

  11. Just wanted to say congratulations on launching MacApper, it’s great to see other young New Zealanders doing cool things :)

  12. Dont worry guys, it wont effect me blogging here at all. I will be sticking to my blogging time table, a post per week day :-)

  13. Nice idea! I just added it to my RSS reader.

  14. Awesome. Like Death Axe, it’s now in my feeds. Looking forward to reading more.

  15. Um, I was just wondering…What happened to your name on the staff page?

  16. Um, I was just wondering…What happened to your name on the staff page?

Miles Evans is now running the site full time, Michael and I decided to step down and let him take charge since he can put much more in that both of us put together. Mike and I are still doing some behind the scenes work however.

  17. Glenn,

You sure know how to create successful blogs, with this blog, and MacApper. Both great reads, and very successful blogs. Congrats!
