Inspiring Workspaces: Dion Tavenier

Dion Tavenier’s Office: Consisting Of

Mac Pro 3GHz // 8GB RAM // 4x 750GB/32MB // X1900 XT // Blu-Ray // 30″ ACD // Airport Extreme // iPhone 8GB // Pacemaker // Logitech Z-5500 Sound System // Phillips Living Colour // Wacom Tablet //

// Samsung 40″ Full HD TV // Xbox 360 Elite // Playstation 3 //

About The Workspace

I’m using my Mac Pro most for (web)design. I’m currently a starter and do this next to my job as assistant shop manager at a local Apple-retailer. I also use the machine for encoding HD-movies for personal use on the 360 or PS3, not professionally, just for my own collection. The desk is the Galant-series from IKEA.

The gaming corner isn’t used that much for gaming. I mostly use it for streaming my music and movies. I’m really a Full HD-fan. Once you go 1080p..

Tonium’s Pacemaker is a new gadget we also sell in our shop. I haven’t spend much time with the Pacemaker yet, but I can already tell that once you’ve used this device you’ll see it as your new iPod. The idea of mixing and saving on the go is great! The Philips Colour lamp was a gift of my dad which you can adjust the LED-light to suit your mood. It’s really nice.

Planning ahead I’d like to add a top of the line 17″ MacBook Pro to the desk in the near future. Handy to use between work and home.

  1. Personally, the look of Dion’s office keeps me motivated to improve my own down the line. Look at all the awesome creative toys/tools.

  2. Awesome workspace.

    PS3, the 360 and a full HDTV (drooling)….

  3. Who is this guy?

  4. and why would you want to mix your relaxation (eg hdtv + consoles) with your workspace?

separation of work and play is a big thing of building a good workspace in the home. Also pointing a 40inch HDTV at the side of a desk seems a little bit of a waste when it could be pointed at a big comfy couch.

  5. Oh Boy, very noice! :-)

  6. [...] Desktop Vibes wrote an interesting post today on Inspiring Workspaces: Dion TavenierHere’s a quick excerpt// Samsung 40″ Full HD TV // Xbox 360 Elite // Playstation 3 //… [...]

  7. It looks sweet, but does he ever want to leave his office? I don’t have a TV with my 360 in my room/office because my family likes to see my face every once and a while… :)

Loving the new look of the site Glenn, Marvin did a great job.

Xbox 360 is such a better package than the PS3! Although, the PS3 is technically better, Xbox Live is just so much better than PS3’s equiv.

  9. No offense, but this post is pointless. This guy has too much money on his hands.

He should donate to a charity before he buys another computer that he doesn’t need.

  10. Nice workspace. Clean and defined. I personally don’t like the wall mounted TV, doesn’t seem very comfortable to play with using a computer chair, but nice overall.

  11. Nice workspace ! Inspires me too! Nice work on Desktop Vibes too glenn!

  12. Really cool workspaces. I love the new site design too. Great job!

  13. Nice office, though I’m not so sure about that “@” clock.

    Great workspace!
Too bad about that Xbox 360 HD-DVD player though :(

  15. Anyone know where I could obtain the desktop wallpaper?

  16. Nice workspace, but kind of low light. It would also be nice if the thumbnail photos at the bottom could expand to a larger size.

  17. @ Craig. I don’t think that’s a very fair assumption. We don’t know if this guy has too much money. He likes technology, he has a nice office. We don’t know anything about him past the office door. I don’t think it’s fair to say someone doesn’t need something before you know more about them, or what their plans are for the future.

  18. Dion has a really great set up he has built here really inspirational for me.

  19. Nice workspace. The only thing I don’t like about it is the window right behind the monitor. I like natural light and I like the sun to shine in and be my light.

  20. Whoa! that setup is amazing, as the title says this setup is really inspiring. Question, what wallpaper is Dion Tavenier using? I’d like to use it aswell.

  21. Looks like a very nice set up. Although it seems like it could be a little distracting with all the gadgets. I would like it even if I get distracted.

Just a comment on this blog, I think you should have a way to view the pictures without it opening a new tab. When you click one of the extra views it should come up on the page you are browsing with, like Flickr, or even popup but without opening a new window. I’m not explaining it well, but I think you get the concept. I always like seeing other peoples workspaces (even when they have a lot more toys and more space than me) so keep up these type of posts. Also, no one should judge this person on having more than he needs — maybe he drives a beater car to pay for this stuff, we just don’t know. And it’s none of our business, we should appreciate that he is willing to share his setup.
