Dr Dre Bringing The Beats Back

monsterbeats.png

Although they’ve been in public knowledge since CES 2008 in January, the first I heard of Monster’s latest audio product “Beats” with the backing of superstar Rap producer Dr Dre was just yesterday.

Retailing for $399, they’re supposedly tuned by the former N.W.A. member and Death Row founder himself (along with a little help from ‘Head Monster’ Noel Lee), and boast “rich, deep bass” which promises to keep your head ringin’

The black headphones come complete with a beautifully designed carrying case with anti-microbial cleaning cloths, a special Monster headphone cable, a mini-stereo to ΒΌ-inch stereo cable adapter, as well as Monster’s iSonitalk, a microphone/headphone adapter for iPhones.

“When I’m making a track I’m trying to capture the sound that makes me go ‘now that’s the shit! And I want that reaction from everybody who hears it,” said Dr. Dre. “I spend a lot of time in the studio listening to my music through headphones…with Beats, people are finally going to hear it the way they should: the way I do.”

While I’ve been stuck using the stock standard iPod headphones for the last three years, I feel it’s time to move forward and look for something more satisfying to get the most out of my listening experience.

I’m eager for Beats to arrive in store later this year so I can take a close look at them. The sleek design has already caught my eye, all that needs proving to now is my ears. Not too much longer to wait.

I have a lot of experience with Monster’s products, being a guitar player of many years. I can attest to the fact that they make products of a really high quality.

They are known among music community for creating reliable and long-lasting cables, and I doubt these headphones would be any different, especially if a music giant such as Dr. Dre was behind their conception.

They sure do look flash, but I guess we will have to wait and see what they are really capable of. I’m sure Monster won’t disappoint!

These headphones look sweet, shame they cost more than I can afford.

    P.S.
Please add some sort of logo to the header title in the top left, it looks so boring.

  3. Shreedhan - I’m hoping to have a new design within the next few weeks. WIP.

This reads like blog placement spam. The best part is how these sleek black headphones will contrast your pasty white skin. Sorry kid, they are too much headphone for you. Why not spend your money on some thick gold chains that you can wear? Or buy some shure’s like everybody else.

  5. Scribs - are you kidding me? Too much headphone for me, in terms of what, I didn’t know you knew me so well? I must be mistaken.

  6. TUNED BY NWA MEMBER! THATS CRAZY! I have to get some of these live headphones.

@scribs - Dude, what on earth is too much headphone. The more the headphone usually means better sound. And you want good sound dont you? Either way, those headphones are live.

  7. Yeah, these things would be great - if you like bass, and don’t care about any other characteristics of your music like tonal separation, soundstage, etc. Gaining more bass is usually at a detriment to other things when it comes to headphones and speakers. Call me a skeptic, but I honestly think you’re able to get some far better circum-aural headphones for US$399. I don’t doubt they’re as strong as a house, but I’ll believe this “newly developed driver technology” when I hear it.

  8. Wait wait wait wait wait.

Since when the hell does Dr. Dre know anything about hi-fi? This is priceless.

The fact that these headphones are coming from a person who produces and makes music with virtually nothing but really crappy bass makes me wonder how “high quality” they really are. If you listen to hip-hop and only understand the concept of bad bass then these will probably suit you perfectly.

I’d rather stick with my Shure’s. Yeah, they may not be tuned by a hip-hop artist but they’re sure as hell accurate. Accuracy > enhancement.

  9. Sounds gimicky, ESPECIALLY since Dr. Dre is behind it.
Honestly the fact that it is backed by some celebrity makes me want to buy it less.

I you did a bit of research you’d find that there are better headphones out there that costs less, look better, and isn’t gimickly supported by some celebrity.

Koss KSC-75, Sennheiser 500 line to name a few, both cost less and have a good reputation among Audiophiles, and in the first case you can get them as cheap as $39AUD.

  10. Most people could not possibly care less about tonal separation or sound stage. On the other hand, there are plenty of people that listen to rap and hip hop and want their music to be as loud and hard-hitting as possible. These headphones are (obviously) for those people.
