Desktop Friday: The Twenty Fifth

Each and every Friday I post a desktop wallpaper which I have taken personally on travels and outings with my Canon 350D. The wallpaper is sized at a resoultion of 2560×1600 pixels, big enough to be used on a 30 inch Apple Cinema Display, so no-one will miss out.

This image was taken two days ago on my stay in Christchurch New Zealand. I was out on a walk when I snapped this image, I have another few good images ready queued up for the next few weeks.

    Very nice.

  2. Hey Glenn!

Sorry I haven’t commented in a while. I read your feed and never have time to comment. I love this desktop though!

  3. IMO, the foreground isn’t too interesting, but the sky is completely surreal and dramatic.

A good crop would be just the tree line and the sky.

  4. Huh, I disagree Henry.
I like the rocks in the front the most.

  5. @wphj: I think the water in front of those rocks is boring, and if it were my shot, I’d want the focus to be on that unbelievable sky — even the rocks distract from that.

  6. I think this is one of your best pictures yet Glenn

Great picture glenn! Christchurch is an amazing place… though Queenstown beats it (but only because of all the ski resorts there!)

I’m going to have to agree with Henry. The shot is beautiful, but a bit too straightforward for my liking.

  9. Glenn, your desktop pictures are getting better every week it seems.

  10. Beautiful shot Glenn! I can see new progresse very single week. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the advice. I have two versions of this image, this one, and the one with adjustments made as per your request. The cropped one wouldn’t work to well as a desktop though.

Christchurch is amazing, I have another 4 days here and I’m looking forward to making the most of it!

To all others, thanks for the kind words about this desktop!

I enjoy checking out this series every Friday! Could you please include some info on the lens, and the EXIF data for future posts?
