Desktop Friday: The Second

Each and every Friday I post a desktop wallpaper for all the Mac users out there. The image is taken using my Canon 350D DSLR. Photography really interests me and this gives me a nice way to showcase some work, while giving readers something for nothing.

The wallpaper is sized at a resoultion of 2560×1600 pixels, big enough to be used on a 30 inch Apple Cinema Display, so no-one will miss out. No watermark has been applied to the image either, so play nice, I’m trust worthy that no one will steal my work.

Today’s desktop theme is: Pale Leaves.

Feel free to leave any comments about this wallpaper below, it’d be nice to get a comment or two from people who decide to use it, have a great weekend, and enjoy!

Download it here.

  1. Glenn, I’m still using the desktop from last week which was just great. Would you be able to upload these to your Flickr account and maybe have a ‘Blog’ set so we can quickly access these

  2. I’m using the one from the “How does your Mac look” - Post.

No need to change it at the moment.

Though a very nice wallpaper this week Glenn :)

Could you please stop call what you do “work” ? Take a simple picture of leaves is not a photography work, it’s just taking some picture of leaves… Having a dslr doesn’t mean that all your picture are professional.

  4. Hey Glenn,

Don’t listen to Simon, he just is jealous! LOL! Trust me, if I was to do try to take a picture like that, it would turn it something like a BLURR! LOL. Nice job! Keep the good “WORK” up!

    @ Simon

Why can you not just say good job and then stop w/ the negative comments?

  5. I forgot to tell you I am using this! Its a nice cover for my windows :-P.
    LOL! Thanks.

    Later.

I didn’t say it s a bad job. Really, it’s a pretty picture. But this not a “photography work”. There is no point of view, or meaning, or artistic choice…
Keep photography and share pictures, but with humility…

    @ Taylor

I’m not jealous, just critical !

    @ Codie

Codie, don’t confuse labour and work. The time or the effort you put on a shot doesn’t mean that this shot is “work”. You can take great pictures as an amateur photographer… but work is an other thing…

This is only MY point of view and i’m interested to have yours (especially Glenn’s one ;) ).

  10. Simon, yes, this was a very quick photo which didn’t require much setting up at all. I guess this shot wouldn’t have taken more than 3 minutes to find, set up, and shoot. But some of my shots can take hours when it comes to planning them, choosing camera settings, and getting the shot I planned.

  11. @ Codie:

Bravo! You explained what I was trying to say! And in a semi-readable manner!

    :-P

    @ Simon:

    Dude, exactly what Codie said:
“so next time think before you say somthing”. Don’t be so critical unless its your own work! ;-)

  12. DUDE YOU GUYS ARE TOO FAST!

I click submit by the time I’m done there are already like three more posts! :-)

I’m not talking about “settings” or preparation time, but about personal work, style, or point of view.
I think anyone with a Dslr and a good photographic eye could have taken this picture… I encourage you to make your pictures unique and more personal…

Anyway i really enjoy your blog (that i read from belgium !), and i apologize for my rudeness!

    @ Taylor

Dude, i’m deeply convinced that constructed critics are profitable…

  15. Simon, I choose most of my simple “work” to display as desktop of the week. I have hundreds of very unique creative images in my Aperture library that I could show, but they really aren’t made for “desktop wallpapers”. I dont even upload many of these super creative shots to Flickr, I keep them close to me. If you would like to see a few I’m very happy to show you them, it’s just they wouldn’t make very good desktop wallpapers as they are more sophisticated.

    @ Glenn

I’d be glad to see your WORK !!
    ;)

  17. @ Simon

“Dude, i’m deeply convinced that constructed critics are profitable…”

They can be…just not here ;-).
    LOL your right though!

  18. Nice shot Glenn. It wouldn’t really suit my desktop, but perhaps someone elses.

    @ Taylor.

Stop Spamming, trying to get yourself up the top readers list.

  19. Taylor, I have “cleaned up” a few of your comments.

  20. They did badly needed to be edited.

  21. This image actually has been edited quite heavily in Aperture. This is the look I was going for.

  22. @ Michael

I’m not trying to. As a matter of fact, it did not even cross my mind.

    @ Glenn

    K

  23. Now we have that cleared up, anyone have a subject they would like me to shoot over the next few weeks?

hmm well i am in a green mood today (on my mountain bike i took millions of new summer shots that contained green) check out my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/codie/

unfortunatly i wasnt able to get any big air..or any mountain biking photos so maybe if theres a competition going on around near you you could take a few shots otherwise green things are good

  25. How about the different buildings in your local town? I’m really interested in going to New Zealand one day and I would love to see what you have there

  26. I agree with Josh, I am interested in what New Zealand. I would like to see pictures of like a typical day, etc. That would be cool. It’s just an idea, do what you like.

  27. I would like to see some pictures of your town. I wonder how NZ’s towns differ from germany’s.

  28. #28

    Codie Westphall

hmm that would be kool i guess too, although it would be more comparing your town with queenstown for MOI hehehe

  29. I also agree with the fellows here about what NZ looks like. Well where you live.

Also I like shots on the water as well as grass. I like those shots of grass where the water is just dripping off the tip. I don’t know, It just looks cool to me :-)

  30. I think last week’s wallpaper was better. This one’s kinda lame :-P

  31. @ Glenn: I agree with Michael, Taylor, Yannic and Josh. I would love to see what New Zealand and the town you live in look like. There are plenty of scenic and still life pictures on Flickr and Interface Lift. Photographs of life in New Zealand would be unique and appreciated!

  32. I hate to say it but it’s very Windows :-p
