Desktop Friday: The Nineteenth
Each and every Friday I post a desktop wallpaper which I have taken personally on travels and outings with my Canon 350D. The wallpaper is sized at a resoultion of 2560×1600 pixels, big enough to be used on a 30 inch Apple Cinema Display, so no-one will miss out.
This weeks wallpaper was taken a few minutes walking distance from my house. Camera settings were “AV” mode with the Aperture set to 3.5, and manual focus was used.

Feel free to leave any comments or constructive criticism about this wallpaper below - it helps me grow and learn the art of photography. If you have suggestions for Desktop Friday, feel free to shoot me an email. Have a great weekend!

Very nice, Glenn. I love the depth of field and how softly blurred the background is.

I love your Desktop Fridays, I’ve gotten many a good wallpaper from you. This shot bothers me a little bit, however (and I mean this in the most constructively possible way).
To me, what you are attempting to capture is the fine, delicate simple shapes in the wheat stalks (I’ve done similar with long grasses). The major problem in this shot (at least to me) is that you’re trying to capture something very simple, but have a busy, complex background that takes the eye away from what you’re trying to focus on. Also, the colors between what the piece is focusing on and the background are very similar and blur together a bit.
Now this is just my opinion, and I’m sure for every one of someone like me there’s another who loves the composition. You should try going back to the same location on a partly cloudy day and trying the same shot with more sky with a couple clouds as the background and see what a difference it makes.

I for one am still waiting for something that isn’t macro (ish). Macro is cool at times but it doesn’t take as much skill or time as say a Panoramic or landscape shot.

DanI agree with bazokajoe, it would have been better with more focused foreground and less blurred background.

alej744Not bad, but I think it’s a little bit too busy for my dock ;-)

I love this, it reminds me of Kansas-back home-where the food is good.

I’ll dedicate the next 2 weeks to you then Dustin, I have a couple of more landscap’ish shots I took while away last week in Christchurch, NZ.
I keep my dock hidden, then any wallpaper wont look silly ;-)

I think the link’s broken, which makes me sad, because the wallpaper makes me happy. Any change of a fix? Thanks! x
