New to bittorrent and looking for application, or just want a change from your current, bulky, resource hogging client? Clone Software’s latest piece of work, BitRocket is the client every bittorrent user on the Mac should have.

Bitrocket

But why BitRocket over competing applications such as Azereus or Transmission?

  • Clean, easy to understand interface

The interface of the application couldn’t be more easier to understand. The screen is split into 3 areas, the main area where your currently downloading torrents are displayed, a smaller area under this where stats are displayed on the selected torrent, and the sidebar where it gives a quick overview of your torrent transfer speeds, and allows you to store RSS feeds of bittorrent sites.

  • Fast loading, great speed

BitRocket loads in the blink of an eye, and torrents connect almost instantly. No more description needed.

  • RSS Support

You can subscribe to site’s RSS feeds, and download torrent files without even leaving BitRocket!

  • Torrent Generator

No more confusing mess while trying to create a torrent file to distribute. Simply press one button and you can easily create you own torrent file.

There are four reasons why you should be using BitRocket, take my advice, head over here, download, and enjoy!

i never download software without any screenshots… it seems that its a crowded application, especially for non-humongous 20+” displays.

transmision is sleek and compact, and doesnt look like some windows guy made it

app speed and torrent speed are independent of the application most of the time, unless the developer sucks.

I liked BitRocket, but the interface, while sleek, is quite crowded. Also, the developer has a history of stealing code.

“BitRocket is the client every bittorrent user on the Mac should have.”

Gotta disagree with that statement. While BitRocket looks nice and has some nice features, Transmission is still far superior in its simplicity and usability.

BitRocket is not for everyone. It’s great for hardcore bittorrent users that leech/seed tons of torrents at once but not for people like me who occasionally download few torrent files and nothing more.

Hmm – I’d be up for testing it if it didn’t keep crashing on my MacBook. Seriously, like Open->Select File… BOOM! App gone!

Transmission stays, though some form of encryption would be nice. Damn Pipex!

I want something that basically looks like Safari’s download manager.

I want to start a file downloading, and then leave it with a progress bar to see how it’s going.

Maybe a Get Info panel for the rest of the torrent’s information

This is laid out in exactly the same way as uTorrent for Windows, which is a plus for me. I’ve found that Transmission is disallowed for some trackers, so I’m currently on TomatoTorrent. I’ll try this tonight though for sure!

Keep up the good work, Glenn!

  7. Bit torrent is what i use… in conjunction with newtorrents.info which is a very clean and trojan free site (unlike many other torrent sites)

bit torrent has the option of showing the status of a download as a percentage or time left
