1Passwd: Password Manager & AutoFill Manager
Want an application which will help you track and remember any password you enter on sites? 1Passwd is a program that keeps track of all your passwords and automatically fills them in when you visit a site.

Safari does this task well, but it’s not the best if you have hundreds of different passwords for sites, including multiple logins for web searches such as Gmail or Hotmail.
1Passwd works seamlessly Safari, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, FireFox, Camino, and Flock! Best of all, 1Passwd stores all your information into the built-in Keychain allowing you top access the same passwords from anywhere, meaning you can switch between various browsers without having to worry about a certain browser not having your login details stored for a certain website.
The interface of the application is really organized and layed out nicely. It’s very simple to browse through your passwords, web forms, and secure notes.
1Passwd allows you to automatically generate strong passwords at the click of a button - handy for making strong passwords.
There are a few things that could be improved with 1Passwd, every time you visit a site you have to enter your master password for 1Passwd into a pop-up window. After a few hours this gets very annoying. An option to change this preference would be a great addition to a helpful application, I would like to be able to set it to ask for my master password when i wake up my machine each morning - not every site I visit.
Overall 1Passwd is a helpful application if you are tracking hundreds of web logins, and continually switching between browsers.
Do you use Safari’s built in password and form filler, or do you use a separate application for the task of auto-filling passwords and forms?

Safari’s built in password autofill combined with Auto Complete Always On! works fine.
1Password has always seemed a little over kill and just a PhillRyuPleasePimpMyAppOnYourBlog kinda app. Novelty, but a little unnecessary.

Your receiving $30 for that post, I want in on that for the time I have wasted reading about an app that is a complete pile of useless code, I feel sorry for anyone who actually buys it.

Actually, if you open the preferences and uncheck “lock when 1passwd closes” and then enter the keychainsettings (still in 1passwd) and uncheck “lock keychain after xx minutes of inactivity” you will achieve what you where looking for.

Wow, I hate 1password. It’s not the type of thing that belongs as a standalone app. It got all messy and was never as good as Autofill.
Glad you got paid to try it out though. Otherwise it would have been a waste of time.

Well, since everyone else seems concerned with bashing 1Passwd, I’ll try to balance it out a bit with mine. 1Passwd is great for people like me who use different browsers, I use OmniWeb for regular stuff and Firefox for blogging, since its better supported. Having the passwords for everything accessible out of a menu is great. The one flaw in OmniWeb, in my opinion, is the password management. It only allows for the last saved password to be automatically used, so if I have two Gmail accounts, tough luck. It’s kind of sad to me that you get paid $30 for a post about an application you’re obviously not very enthusiastic about. If you can’t make a convincing argument that’ll make people want to try it out, what’s the point of paying you? When I do reviews of applications at the bequest of the developer, they give me a serial, but they don’t pay me, and more often than not, I’m extolling the virtues of an app I payed for myself and love.

I received 1Passwd from MacHeist and used it for about a month or so. At first, I found it pretty convenient, especially for someone who has many different logins and passwords. After a while it just became a nuisance.
One of the biggest annoyances was when someone else would be using my computer to check their email and 1Passwd would repeatedly as them to unlock when they clearly didn’t want to.
Personally, it was of a hassle then what it was worth. I still have it installed, but I keep it disabled.

Hi Glenn,
This is Roustem Karimov, one of the creators of 1Passwd. Thank you for posting the review so quickly.
You sent us a message sometime ago asking if we can help your blog by advertising 1Passwd. When we saw that you can also review our application we decided that a blog post would be more useful to your readers.
As a developer, I love to get the feedback about our product, both positive and negative. Positive reviews keep me working late at night and negative reviews let me know where to improve.
From reading your post, I can tell that you were using 1Passwd a while ago and didn’t have a great experience at the time. I see that the screenshot you posted is not from the current version of 1Passwd.
You can find the screenshots of the current version here:

I would really appreciate if you can try out the new version and let us know where we can improve.

Oh come on. Bad enough you get paid for it, but you then change your post to hide the amount you actually got paid.
Saying disclosure at then end does not make it cool.

Personally, I love 1Passwd. It makes it much fast to log in into the endless lists of websites that I visit. About this bit:
“There are a few things that could be improved with 1Passwd, every time you visit a site you have to enter your master password for 1Passwd into a pop-up window. After a few hours this gets very annoying. An option to change this preference would be a great addition to a helpful application, I would like to be able to set it to ask for my master password when i wake up my machine each morning - not every site I visit.”
There *is* an option for this in the preferences… Click Edit Settings in Keychain section of the Prefs. You might want to update your post…
